What is a Breast Pump Closet?
A Breast Pump Closet is a designated space within a healthcare facility, clinic, or community organization where breast pumps and breastfeeding support resources are stored and made readily available to new and expectant mothers.
The goal of a Breast Pump Closet is to streamline access to breast pumps often allowing moms to take a breast pump home the same day. What sets Maternal by Sentido apart is our dedication to providing early breastfeeding support with our Breastfeeding 101 Class and lactation support.

Steps to Setting Up a Breast Pump Closet
Begin by confirming which insurance providers are accepted at your facility or clinic. This ensures that the breast pumps offered align with coverage options available to your patients.
1. Identify Accepted Insurance Plans:
Review the list of breast pumps covered under each accepted insurance plan. Note any variations in coverage levels, models, or patient eligibility requirements.
2. Review Covered Breast Pumps:
Based on the insurance coverage review, select which pump models and quantities to stock in your facility’s breast pump closet. Aim to include a variety of options to meet different patient needs and preferences.
3. Select Pumps for Closet:
The Maternal team will develop a side-by-side comparison chart of the selected pumps to help patients and providers easily understand features, benefits, and differences between models.
Our team is also available to answer questions and guide patients through the pump selection and insurance process.
4. Create a Comparison Chart & Offer Support:

Our Services
We guide moms through the process of using their insurance coverage to obtain a breast pump, helping them choose the model that best fits their lifestyle and feeding goals. Our team provides ongoing support — both as they prepare for breastfeeding and throughout their journey.
Our Lactation Support Services include one-on-one visits with an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) through our convenient, HIPAA-secure telehealth platform. Each session is fully personalized to meet a mom’s unique needs, ensuring she receives the expert support she deserves.
We offer a virtual Breastfeeding 101 class, led by an IBCLC, at no cost. This class covers breastfeeding essentials and is perfect for first-time moms or those looking for a refresher. Partners are encouraged to join to help build the strong support system every mom and baby need.
Our Maternal team has created a variety of helpful resources available on our website — including milk storage guidelines, a breast pump cleaning guide, tips for increasing milk supply, and much more.
